I'm Lindsay, an integrative counsellor registered with the BACP, and I support people from Virginia Water and across Surrey. My practice is based in Addlestone, a short drive away, making it accessible whether you're travelling from the village itself, nearby Egham, or prefer the flexibility of online sessions.

Approach

Counselling Made to Fit You, Not a Template

Working integratively means I'm not tied to one school of therapy. I bring together the approaches that suit you and your situation, because meaningful work grows from your own story rather than a standard programme applied to everyone who walks through the door.

That plays out differently week to week. One session might explore how earlier experiences still shape the way you relate to people now; another might stay firmly in the present, easing anxiety or helping you find words for something that's become difficult at home.

Virginia Water sits close to Windsor Great Park and the Wentworth Estate, and I see people from the village and the surrounding area. Whatever has brought you to counselling, it's welcome here, and there's no threshold of being 'bad enough' you need to reach before it's worthwhile.

I'm not here to judge how you've coped or to tell you what to do. My role is to offer a calm, confidential space where you can be honest about what's hard and build ways of coping that genuinely fit your life.

Who I Work With in Virginia Water

Children and Teenagers

Young people now grow up under pressures earlier generations never knew: constant online comparison, friendships that continue across social media, and expectations to perform that begin strikingly young. For some, that weight builds into anxiety or perfectionism they can't quite name.

I work with children and teenagers experiencing anxiety, fragile confidence, perfectionism, anger that overflows, difficulties at school socially and academically, and the effects of family change such as separation or loss.

Counselling gives them somewhere entirely their own, with no one to impress and nothing to prove, where they can begin to understand their feelings and separate who they are from how they perform. That sense of being accepted as they are is often what steadies them.

Support for Adults

Adult life stacks up quickly: career, relationships, children, ageing parents, finances, and the quiet expectation that you'll keep your own wellbeing running smoothly throughout. When something gives, it's usually your own needs that were set aside first.

I support adults living with anxiety and depression, work and relationship stress, anger, the imprint of past trauma, grief, and that hard-to-place feeling that life hasn't become what you hoped.

Whatever you bring, counselling is space to examine it honestly and without judgement. Together we uncover what sits beneath the struggle, work through the difficult feelings, question the patterns keeping you stuck, and build something steadier to stand on.

Neurodivergent Children, Teens and Adults

Neurodiversity is a key specialism in my practice. I work with neurodivergent children, teenagers and adults, and with their families, whether there's a formal ADHD or autism diagnosis, an assessment pending, or simply a growing sense that it fits.

Parents often reach me drained and feeling unheard by schools and services. I offer them a dedicated space to understand their child's experience and to develop strategies that actually work day to day, not only in theory.

For young people, the aim is to help them value how their mind works, manage the parts of school and social life that feel hard, and build resilience. Adults exploring a late diagnosis are just as welcome, and counselling can help you reinterpret your history with far more compassion.

Pregnancy, HG and New Motherhood

There's a strong expectation that pregnancy and new motherhood should feel joyful. When they don't, women are often left feeling isolated and guilty on top of everything else they're carrying.

I have specialist experience with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, the severe pregnancy sickness that goes far beyond morning sickness and can overwhelm daily life entirely. My extended 90-minute HG debrief gives you room to process the whole of that experience.

I also support women through antenatal anxiety and depression, postnatal depression, birth trauma, bonding difficulties, and the sheer scale of adjusting to motherhood. Finding it hard isn't a failing; it's part of being human.

You're welcome to make contact whether you have a clear reason in mind or simply feel that talking things through would help. There's no threshold you need to reach first, and we can find an approach and pace that suit you.

FAQ

Questions from Virginia Water Clients

Discretion matters to a lot of my Virginia Water clients. Confidentiality is central to how I work, and meeting in Addlestone, away from the village, or working online adds an extra layer of privacy. Nothing you share leaves our sessions except in the rare situations every counsellor is required to act on.

Yes. You don't need to have reached crisis point for counselling to help. Anxiety, grief, low mood or relationship strain are all worth support, and feeling you have no reason to struggle can make it harder to reach out. Your experience is valid whatever it looks like from outside.

Yes. Academic and social pressure can leave young people anxious, perfectionist or afraid of failing. Counselling gives them a space with no expectations attached, where they can separate their worth from their results and build steadier confidence.

Yes. Choosing to try again after Hyperemesis Gravidarum is genuinely hard, often mixing grief and fear with hope. We can process the previous pregnancy together and build a plan for support should you decide to go ahead.

Teenagers often speak more freely to someone outside the family, with no shared history and no fear of disappointing a parent. I hold a neutral, non-judgemental space, keep their confidence, and encourage age-appropriate communication with you.

For most concerns, yes. The connection and the work we do together are what count, and both translate well to video. You simply need a private space where you won't be interrupted and a dependable internet connection.

New clients can usually be offered a first session within a week or two, though it varies with demand. If things feel urgent, say so when you get in touch and I'll do what I can to see you sooner; online availability is often a little more flexible.
