Your Life And Soul
Based in Addlestone, serving Cobham & the surrounding Surrey area
Whatever you're facing, talking it through with someone outside your own circle can help. Counselling offers a calm, discreet and judgement-free space to make sense of things at your own pace.
Too far to travel? Online sessions available.
I'm Lindsay, an integrative counsellor registered with the BACP, and I support people from Cobham and across Surrey. My practice is based in Addlestone, a short drive away, making it accessible whether you're travelling from the village itself, nearby Stoke D'Abernon, or prefer the flexibility of online sessions.
Approach
Integrative counselling means I'm not tied to a single therapeutic model. I bring together approaches that suit you and the situation you're in, because meaningful work grows out of your particular story rather than a fixed programme applied to everyone.
That plays out differently from week to week. One session might explore how earlier experiences still influence the way you relate to people now; another might stay firmly in the present, working on managing anxiety or navigating a relationship that's become strained.
Cobham sits among the villages of Elmbridge, and I see people from the village itself, Stoke D'Abernon, Oxshott and the surrounding area. Whatever has brought you to counselling, it's welcome here, and there's no threshold of being 'bad enough' you need to reach before support is worthwhile.
I'm not here to judge how you've coped or to tell you what to do. My role is to offer a calm, confidential space where you can be honest about what's hard and find ways of coping that genuinely fit your life.
Services
Young people now face pressures earlier generations never knew: constant online comparison, friendships that spill across social media, and expectations to perform that begin remarkably young. For some, that weight builds into anxiety they can't quite name.
I work with children and teenagers experiencing anxiety, fragile confidence, perfectionism, anger that boils over, difficulties at school socially or academically, and the effects of family change such as separation or loss.
Counselling gives them somewhere entirely their own, with no expectations and no one to impress, where they can begin to understand their feelings and separate who they are from how they perform. That sense of being accepted as they are is often exactly what steadies them.
Adult life piles up quickly: career, relationships, children, ageing parents, finances, and the unspoken expectation that you'll keep your own wellbeing running smoothly throughout. When something gives, it's usually your own needs that were quietly shelved.
I support adults living with anxiety and depression, work and relationship stress, anger, the imprint of past trauma, grief, and that hard-to-place feeling that life hasn't become what you hoped.
Whatever you bring, counselling is space to examine it honestly and without judgement. Together we uncover what sits beneath the struggle, work through the difficult emotions, question the patterns that keep you stuck, and build something steadier to stand on.
Neurodiversity is a key specialism in my practice. I work with neurodivergent children, teenagers and adults, and with their families, whether there's a formal ADHD or autism diagnosis, an assessment pending, or simply a growing sense that it fits.
Parents often reach me drained and feeling unheard by schools and services. I offer them a dedicated space to understand their child's experience and to develop strategies that actually work day to day, not only in theory.
For young people, the aim is to help them value how their mind works, manage the parts of school and social life that feel hard, and build resilience. Adults exploring a late diagnosis are just as welcome, and counselling can help you reinterpret your history with far more compassion.
There's a strong expectation that pregnancy and new motherhood should feel joyful. When they don't, women are often left feeling isolated and guilty on top of everything else they're carrying.
I have specialist experience with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, the severe pregnancy sickness that goes far beyond morning sickness and can overwhelm daily life entirely. My extended 90-minute HG debrief gives you room to process the whole of that experience.
I also support women through antenatal anxiety and depression, postnatal depression, birth trauma, bonding difficulties, and the sheer scale of adjusting to motherhood. Finding it hard isn't a failing; it's part of being human.

We begin with a free, no-pressure telephone consultation to talk through what's going on and whether working together feels right for you. Nothing is expected of you afterwards. Sessions run for 50 minutes, or 90 for HG debriefs, and the atmosphere is calm, private and relaxed throughout.

Cobham
Cobham is known for Painshill Park, a restored 18th-century landscape garden, and sits close to the M25. It has a village centre with independent shops and cafes, and good road and rail links towards London.
Counselling here is open to anyone, whatever has led you to consider it. People arrive with a wide range of concerns, from anxiety, low mood and stress to loss, relationship difficulties, or simply a feeling that something isn't right, and each is a valid reason to seek support.
You don't have to wait until things feel unmanageable to get in touch. Counselling can be just as useful for working through a specific worry as it is for longer-term support, and we can shape it around what you need.
Painshill Park offers beautiful grounds for a walk and some quiet reflection after a session. Building time for yourself into your day -- even just 30 minutes -- is part of prioritising your wellbeing.
FAQ
Yes. You don't need to have reached crisis point for counselling to help. Anxiety, low mood, loss or strained relationships are all worth support, and the sense that you 'shouldn't' be struggling can make it harder to reach out. Your experience is valid whatever it looks like from outside.
Confidentiality is central to how I work, and nothing you share leaves our sessions except in the rare situations every counsellor is required to act on. Meeting in Addlestone, away from Cobham, or working online can add an extra layer of discretion if that matters to you.
Yes. Academic and social pressure can leave young people anxious, perfectionist or afraid of failing. Counselling gives them a space with no expectations attached, where they can separate their own worth from their results and build steadier confidence.
Yes. Choosing to try again after Hyperemesis Gravidarum is genuinely hard, often mixing grief and fear with hope. We can process the previous pregnancy together and build a plan for support should you decide to go ahead.
Teenagers often speak more freely to someone outside the family, with no shared history and no fear of disappointing a parent. I hold a neutral, non-judgemental space, keep their confidence, and encourage age-appropriate communication with you.
For most concerns, yes. The connection and the work we do together are what count, and both translate well to video. You simply need a private space where you won't be interrupted and a dependable internet connection.
There's no fixed programme to sign up to. Some people come with a specific focus and find a handful of sessions enough, while others value longer-term support. We review how things are going as we go, and you stay in control of how long we continue.
Taking the first step can feel daunting, but it is often the most important one. I offer a free initial telephone consultation where we can have a chat about what you are looking for.
