Your Life And Soul
Based in Addlestone, serving Staines-upon-Thames & the surrounding Surrey area
When a full, fast-moving life leaves no room to stop and think, things can quietly build up. Counselling offers time and space that's entirely yours, to make sense of what you're carrying and move forward.
Too far to travel? Online sessions available.
I'm Lindsay, an integrative counsellor registered with the BACP, and I support people from Staines-upon-Thames and across Surrey. My practice is based in Addlestone, a short drive away, making it accessible whether you're travelling from the town centre, surrounding areas, or prefer the flexibility of online sessions.
Approach
Integrative counselling means I don't follow one fixed method for everyone. I combine ideas and techniques from several therapeutic traditions and adapt them to you, because the right way of working depends on your situation rather than a textbook.
In practice, sessions shift as your needs do. One week we might look back at experiences still shaping how you relate to people; the next might be entirely practical, steadying a racing mind, easing panic, or finding better ways to handle conflict at home or at work.
Staines-upon-Thames is a busy town built around the river, the Elmsleigh centre and a large number of offices, with many residents commuting into London or working long hours nearby. That pace has a way of normalising stress until proper rest starts to feel like a distant memory.
My role isn't to judge how you've coped or tell you what to do. It's to offer a steady, unhurried space where you can be honest, understand what's really going on, and build ways of managing that genuinely fit the life you're living.
Services
Young people today face pressures earlier generations never met: relentless online comparison, friendships lived out on screens, and academic expectations that ramp up young. It's a great deal to hold, and it often surfaces as anxiety or withdrawal.
I work with children and teenagers experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, anger that feels too big to manage, difficulties at school socially and academically, and the impact of family upheaval such as separation, house moves or bereavement.
Counselling gives them a space that belongs entirely to them, free from parents and teachers, where they can begin to understand and voice how they feel. Learning to name their emotions early becomes a skill they carry for the rest of their lives.
Adult life asks a lot all at once: career, relationships, children, ageing parents, finances, and the expectation that you'll keep your own wellbeing ticking over on top. For those juggling demanding jobs and a commute, it's usually your own needs that slip first.
I support adults dealing with anxiety and depression, work and relationship stress, burnout, anger, the effects of past trauma, grief, and that hard-to-name feeling that life isn't quite where you wanted it to be.
Whatever you're facing, counselling gives you undistracted space to look at it honestly. Together we make sense of what sits underneath, work through the difficult feelings, challenge the patterns keeping you stuck, and rebuild a steadier balance.
Neurodiversity is a key specialism in my practice. I work with neurodivergent children, teenagers and adults, and with their families, whether there's a formal ADHD or autism diagnosis, an assessment pending, or simply a growing sense that it fits.
Parents often reach me exhausted and feeling unheard by schools and services. I offer them a dedicated space to understand their child's experience and to develop strategies that genuinely work day to day rather than only on paper.
For young people, the focus is on valuing how their mind works, managing the parts of school and social life that feel hard, and building resilience. Adults recognising themselves in a late diagnosis are equally welcome, and counselling can help you understand your strengths and reframe the past with kindness.
We're told pregnancy and early motherhood should feel joyful, so when the reality is harder, women are often left feeling isolated and guilty as well as overwhelmed.
I have specialist experience with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, the severe pregnancy sickness that goes far beyond morning sickness and can flatten every part of daily life. My extended 90-minute HG debrief gives you time to process the whole experience.
I also support women through antenatal anxiety and depression, postnatal depression, birth trauma, bonding difficulties, and the enormous adjustment to motherhood. Struggling with any of it doesn't mean you're doing it wrong; it means you're human.

Online Sessions
With so many Staines clients commuting or working long office hours, online counselling by secure video is often the most workable option. You can meet before work, over lunch or from home, the relationship holds just the same on screen, and there's no journey to squeeze into an already full day.
Everything begins with a free telephone consultation, a low-key chance to talk through what's happening and decide together whether counselling feels right. There's no obligation to continue afterwards. Standard sessions are 50 minutes, HG debriefs are 90, and the tone throughout is warm and relaxed.
Pricing
I believe therapy should be accessible. An initial free telephone consultation is offered so we can discuss your needs before committing.

Staines-upon-Thames
Staines-upon-Thames is a historic market town on the River Thames, with a town centre built around the Elmsleigh shopping area and the river itself. It has good rail links towards London and Reading, and a mix of long-standing residents and newer commuter families.
People seek counselling for all kinds of reasons, and none of them has to be a full-blown crisis. Anxiety, low mood, work stress, grief, relationship difficulties or a general sense of being stuck are all valid reasons to make contact.
There's no need to wait until you're overwhelmed to reach out. Whether you want focused help with something specific or a regular space to think things through, we can shape the work around you.
The riverside path along the Thames near Staines Bridge offers a peaceful spot for reflection after a session. Building time for yourself into your day -- even just 30 minutes -- is part of prioritising your wellbeing.
FAQ
Staines has a lot of commuters and office workers, so flexibility matters. Some early morning and evening appointments are available, and online sessions let you meet before work, over a lunch break or from home. A fortnightly rhythm can also work when time is tight.
No, unless you choose to tell them. What we discuss is confidential. If you fund sessions through an Employee Assistance Programme the provider knows you're accessing counselling but not the content, and many people simply hold the time as a personal appointment.
Yes. Long hours, constant pressure and never quite switching off can leave you exhausted, anxious or detached. Counselling gives you space to understand what's driving it and to rebuild boundaries and routines that protect your wellbeing.
Yes. Deciding whether to try again after Hyperemesis Gravidarum often carries grief and fear alongside hope. We can process the previous pregnancy together and put a plan for support in place if you decide to go ahead.
Teenagers often find it easier to open up to someone outside the family, with no history and no fear of disappointing a parent. I offer a neutral, non-judgemental space, keep their confidence, and encourage age-appropriate communication with you.
For most concerns, yes, and it suits a busy commuter town well. The therapeutic relationship forms in the same way over video; you mainly need a private space where you won't be interrupted and a reliable connection.
Standard sessions run for 50 minutes, and specialist HG debriefs for 90. Many Staines clients mix face-to-face appointments in Addlestone with online sessions depending on their week, and we can settle into whatever pattern works best for you.
Taking the first step can feel daunting, but it is often the most important one. I offer a free initial telephone consultation where we can have a chat about what you are looking for.
