Your Life And Soul
Based in Addlestone, serving Egham & the surrounding Surrey area
Whether you're studying, working or raising a family here, some things are too much to shoulder alone. Counselling gives you a steady, confidential space to make sense of it and move forward.
Too far to travel? Online sessions available.
I'm Lindsay, an integrative counsellor registered with the BACP, and I support people from Egham and across Surrey. My practice is based in Addlestone, a short drive away, making it accessible whether you're travelling from the town itself, nearby Virginia Water, or prefer the flexibility of online sessions.
Approach
As an integrative counsellor I don't work from a single fixed model. I bring together ideas and techniques from different approaches and shape them around you, because what helps depends on your particular circumstances rather than on one method applied to everyone.
In practice, the work moves with you. Some sessions look back at experiences that still shape how you relate to people; others stay firmly in the here and now, whether that's easing exam anxiety, managing a racing mind, or working out how to handle a strained relationship.
Egham is shaped by Royal Holloway and its student community, sitting alongside long-standing residents and families commuting into London. That mix brings its own pressures: academic and career expectations, the loneliness of relocation, and the constant push to perform, all of which can quietly wear you down.
My role isn't to judge how you've coped or tell you what to do. It's to offer a calm, collaborative space where you can be honest, understand what's really going on, and build ways of managing that genuinely fit your life.
Services
Young people today face pressures earlier generations never met: constant online comparison, friendships lived out on screens, and academic expectations that start young and rarely let up. For students especially, that weight can tip into burnout or anxiety.
I work with children, teenagers and young adults experiencing anxiety, low confidence, anger that boils over, difficulties at school or university socially and academically, and the impact of family change such as separation or loss.
Counselling gives them a space that's entirely their own, free from parents, teachers or the pressure to keep achieving, where they can understand their feelings and separate who they are from how they perform. That sense of being accepted often steadies everything else.
Adult life stacks up quickly: career, relationships, perhaps children, ageing parents, money, and the assumption that you'll keep your own wellbeing running throughout. When something gives, it's usually your own needs that quietly slip.
I support adults living with anxiety and depression, work and relationship stress, anger, the effects of past trauma, grief, and that hard-to-name sense that life isn't quite where you hoped it would be.
Whatever you bring, counselling is space to examine it without distraction or judgement. Together we uncover what sits beneath the struggle, work through the difficult feelings, question the patterns keeping you stuck, and build a steadier footing.
Neurodiversity is a key specialism in my practice. I work with neurodivergent children, teenagers and adults, and with their families, whether there's a formal ADHD or autism diagnosis, an assessment pending, or simply a growing sense that it fits.
Parents often reach me exhausted and feeling unheard by schools and services. I offer them a dedicated space to understand their child's experience and to develop strategies that genuinely work day to day rather than only on paper.
For young people, the focus is on valuing how their mind works, managing the parts of study and social life that feel hard, and building resilience. Adults recognising themselves in a late diagnosis are equally welcome, and counselling can help you reinterpret your history with compassion.
We're told pregnancy and early motherhood should feel joyful, so when the reality is harder, women are often left feeling isolated and guilty as well as overwhelmed.
I have specialist experience with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, the severe pregnancy sickness that goes far beyond morning sickness and can dominate daily life entirely. My extended 90-minute HG debrief gives you time to process the whole experience.
I also support women through antenatal anxiety and depression, postnatal depression, birth trauma, bonding difficulties, and the sheer adjustment of becoming a parent. Finding it hard doesn't mean you're doing it wrong; it means you're human.

Online Sessions
For a town with so many students, staff and commuters, online counselling by secure video is often the most practical option. Sessions fit around lectures, deadlines or a demanding week, the relationship holds just the same on screen, and the work can continue even if you move away.
We start with a free telephone consultation, a relaxed chance to talk through what's going on and see whether working together feels right. There's no obligation to book anything afterwards. Standard sessions last 50 minutes, HG debriefs 90, and the whole thing stays warm and informal.

I believe therapy should be accessible. An initial free telephone consultation is offered so we can discuss your needs before committing.

Egham
Egham is home to Royal Holloway, University of London, and sits close to Windsor Great Park and Runnymede, the site of the Magna Carta Memorial. It has a mix of long-standing residents, university staff and students, and families commuting into London.
Whether you're studying, working or raising a family, counselling is there for whatever you're facing, and none of it needs to be dramatic to matter. People come with anxiety, low mood, stress, grief, relationship strain, or a sense of feeling adrift.
You're welcome to reach out whether you're facing something specific or simply feel that talking to someone impartial would help. There's no threshold you need to meet first, and we can find a pace and approach that work for you.
Windsor Great Park and Runnymede are both close by and offer plenty of space for a quiet walk after a session. Building time for yourself into your day -- even just 30 minutes -- is part of prioritising your wellbeing.
FAQ
Absolutely. Students and staff connected to Royal Holloway are very welcome, alongside anyone living or working in Egham. Sessions run online or face to face near Addlestone and can flex around term dates, deadlines and shift patterns.
Yes. Relentless deadlines, perfectionism and comparison can leave you drained, anxious or unable to switch off. Counselling gives you space to understand what's driving the pressure and to build steadier ways of working and resting.
Very much so. Relocating for study or work can be lonelier than people expect, especially when everyone else seems settled. Counselling offers a consistent, supportive relationship while you find your footing, and online sessions mean it can continue if you move again.
Yes. Deciding whether to try again after Hyperemesis Gravidarum often mixes hope with real grief and fear. We can process the previous pregnancy together and put a plan for support in place if you choose to go ahead.
Teenagers frequently find it easier to talk to someone outside the family, with no history and no fear of disappointing a parent. I hold a neutral, non-judgemental space, keep their confidence, and encourage age-appropriate communication with you.
For most concerns, yes, and it's especially practical for a town with a big student and commuter population. The relationship and the work carry over video just as well; you mainly need a private space and a steady connection.
I ask for 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session, which lets me offer the time to someone else. Cancellations inside 24 hours may be charged at the full rate, other than in genuinely exceptional circumstances. If something crops up, just let me know as early as you can.
Taking the first step can feel daunting, but it is often the most important one. I offer a free initial telephone consultation where we can have a chat about what you are looking for.
